Life Stories

Jesus calls us to be connected, to care about one another. Every one has a life that God is writing a story upon; these stories are about real people that have received real help at the Pregnancy Resource Center.  We encourage you to take time and intertwine their life story with your own.

A man after God’s own heart

“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion,  for God loves a cheerful giver.”                        2 Corinthians 9:7

A committed volunteer has been coming to the PRC for the last four years, serving in any area we needed help. You might be surprised to find out that this volunteer is a man! And does this man ever have a heart for people who are hurting; always willing to go the extra mile for others.  He has been a blessing to the PRC staff, always just a phone call away if needed.  Volunteers are so very vital to all God does through the Pregnancy Resource Center.  Multiple people have been exceedingly blessed by this one volunteer.  It is encouraging to see committed volunteers dedicate their lives to helping others.

Thank you for volunteering with your resources that make a daily difference in your community.

 A changed mind

Hear, O LORD, when I cry aloud; be gracious to me and answer me! You have said, ”Seek my face.” My heart says to you, “Your face, LORD, do I seek.”  ~ Psalm 27:7-8

Tiffany (not her real name) meant to go to Planned Parenthood.  She wanted an abortion.  We suggested a volunteer could speak to her concerning pregnancy options and information on abortion, even mentioning all PRC services are free of charge.  Tiffany was interested but still wanted to check out Planned Parenthood next door.

Knowing she needed the PRC more than ever, the staff and volunteers gathered to pray.  It was not very long before Tiffany felt drawn to come back in and praise God she did!

Upon asking her how she truly felt about abortion, Tiffany broke down and said that she knew it is wrong.  The volunteer let her know we had been praying for her to come back into the PRC. Tiffany said she was grateful and no longer viewed abortion as her option.

Thank you Lord, for meeting Tiffany in her time of need!

 It is Life!

“Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like a roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting, ‘Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns.”  ~ Revelation 19:6

Hannah (not her real name) came to the PRC thinking that she was 8 weeks pregnant.  She did not want a baby. But after counseling with a volunteer advocate, she agreed to an ultrasound.

The ultrasound revealed the baby was very young, close to 5 weeks old.  The hearts of the volunteers sunk because they knew it was often too early at 5 weeks to see a baby’s heartbeat.  However, as the nurse volunteer continued the ultrasound scan, she saw what she believed was the heartbeat!  Zooming in on the movement on the screen, the nurse became excited because she was able indeed to show Hannah her baby’s heartbeat, even though the baby only measured 3mm!

Moved to tears, Hannah asked if that was the baby’s heartbeat, to which the nurse could say, “yes.” Tears rolled down her cheeks and she said, “I have a lot to think about…I need to talk to my boyfriend.” God clearly wanted to show her the tiny life of her baby…Hallelujah, Glory to our God on high!

Truth prevails

“A truthful witness gives honest testimony, but a false witness tells lies.” -Proverbs 12:17

Determined to finish college, Cheryl, not her real name, stated immediately to the client advocate that she could not support a child and was very serious about abortion.  Her mother was ill and would not be able to help her.  She did not want to involve the guy.

The client advocate shared information about parenting, adoption and the risks of abortion.  She spent time educating Cheryl on fetal development and the present size of her baby since she was already 6 weeks pregnant.  Cheryl became agitated and told the advocate that the PRC information was very biased toward life.  The client advocate replied that we do care about life, her future and the future of her baby.

Two months later, Cheryl called to say she had decided to continue her pregnancy and parent her baby.  She had told her mom and she was very supportive, helping her daughter to feel good about her decision. Cheryl was grateful the client advocate had shared honest information and had cared about the life of her baby.  Five months later the client advocate checked with Cheryl and found her to be the proud mother of a beautiful baby girl.  She still plans on returning to college but is just enjoying this time as a mom.
